Clove is the bud of a tropical evergreen tree. Now common as a kitchen spice, clove was a rare, prized substance for thousands of years. The demand for cloves and other Asian herbs spurred explorers like Magellan (who brought cloves to Spain) to circle the globe.Its sweetening, deodorizing properties have long been used externally in potpourris, incense, and air fresheners. Clove can also be used as an internal deodorizer, freshening the breath and reducing body odor.

HOW TO USE
Cloves reduce Kapha and Vátha, and increase Pitta. Clove has long been used to fight bacteria, tooth decay, and anesthetize dental pain. For temporary relief of toothache prior to visiting your dentist, clean your teeth gently and thoroughly. Dip a Q-tip in pure clove oil. Apply it to the affected tooth and surrounding gum area.
